In the Closet of… | An “It Girl”

20 Feb

Dear reader,

You must have noticed those girls on the street. They are pretty, very natural, without too much make up, and with those stunning outfits that immediately grab the attention. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the “It Girls“, or the girls everyone wants to be. For my current post, I wanted to find such a girl and take a look into her world, and, of course learn more about the do’s and don’ts of clothing nowadays.

Erilda Hoxha, Personal Archive.

Erilda Hoxha comes from Tirana, Albania, and is a sophomore in AUBG. When I entered into her room, I could not help but notice all those suitcases and big bags full of clothes that were taking most of the space in the corners. It is not a secret for anyone that she has a thing for fashion; actually, it has become an inseparable part of her life.

“In the morning, when I’m getting ready for the day, I never think about other people. I just have to look good for myself, to feel pretty and confident.”

For Erilda, fashion is a way to stand out and make a statement about who she is. She believes that the details are the most important thing in an outfit. Whether it is a beautiful accessory, interesting mixture of fabrics, or a nice hairstyle, the smallest thing can make you look chic and fashionable. According to Erilda, it is very important to feel confident in the clothes you are wearing and when you wear the right ones, you just know it.

“I’m very [much] into the details, I’m so into mixing the layers and fabrics because I think this is what makes you look chic.”

As every honorable fashionista, Erilda has her passions. When it comes to shoes and bags, she is just unstoppable. While chatting

about her summer in the United States, she mentioned she came back with more than 13 pairs of shoes!

“Even if I don’t have to [go shopping], it’s like a therapy, you know! It makes my father kill himself but it\s ok!”

It is no surprise then, that Erilda often catches the eye with combinations and outfits. When dressing for classes, though, she would try to pick up more comfortable clothes because “sitting in the same position for 90 minutes with super skinny jeans is not particularly nice.” As for her free time, she would just get into her UGG’s and forget the meaning of the word “uncomfortable.”

Things are different when it comes to going out. Erilda prefers simple dresses or skirts that she can combine with eye-catching accessories like jewelry, shoes, and clutches.

“You can wear the same dress during the day and when you go out, but it might look completely different just because of your choice of accessories.”

To sum up my talks with Erilda, I would say that in order to find your own style and learn what works best for you, you just have to experiment. It is important that you have the basics – a little black dress, the right pair of jeans, a nice leather jacket, and, of course, a pair of stylish shoes and a really good bag. Then, you can start building up on that with interesting models, fabrics, and embellishments! It is so much fun, we promise!

Here you can enjoy more from Erilda’s thoughts and styles:
